New AOY “Season Slams" Mean More Chances for Recognition!
Not here all year? Fish only in the “nice” summer months? Then the new Angler of the Year “Season Slam” Recognition is for you! Each quarter year the anglers in each division with the most points in that quarter will get Season Slam Awards for that quarter. There will be four (4) quarters, coinciding with the AOY year: Winter: Dec thru Feb; Spring: Mar - May; Summer: June - Aug; Fall: Sep - Nov. Species caught in a season count only for that seasons award. Of course, all points earned during the year accumulate for the JIOFC Angler of the Year Award. So, if you plan to fish a lot over a short period of time, turn in your weigh slips - you could win the AOY Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall Slam Recognition Awards!
AOY Season Slam Rules:
Divisions: Mens, Ladies & Juniors (15 yrs or less as of Nov 30th)
All applicable AOY rules apply.
Each angler starts each season with zero points and accumulates points thru that season. Seasons are as follows: Winter: Dec 1 thru Feb 28; Spring: Mar 1 - May 31; Summer: June 1 - Aug 31; Fall: Sep 1 - Nov 30.
Use AOY entry forms as usual.
Eligible fish caught in a season count only for that seasons award. You cannot duplicate a fish in another season For example: Fred gets a 10# dolphin in the Winter, so it counts for 110 points for Winter. He gets a 20 pounder in the Fall, so he only gets the additional 10 points in the Fall season (see below). The total dolphin points of 120 go toward the full year AOY points).
At the end of each season, awards are given to the Anglers in each Division
