2008 ANGLER OF THE YEAR

The 2008 JIOFC Angler of the Year contest is heating up! The new format offers more eligible fish, more possible points, and of course, the challenge of catching many more species to show off your angling prowess.  Results are thru 3/15/08.

Remember, you can catch an eligible fish and keep it (for base points only); catch an eligible fish and release it (for base points only); or bring it in and weigh it (for base points plus one point per pound).  Example: catch an undersize trigger and release it for 50 points (must be witnessed).  Then, if you catch a 6 lb trigger on another outing, you get the “extra” 6 points for the weight, giving you 56 points for the trigger category.  Weigh-in must be witnessed).  Printable rules and species entry forms are available on the main page of the website.

The 2008 AOY Tournament lasts through November 30th.  (FYI, We have discontinued the quarterly “Slams” portion of AOY and replaced it with more Funaments!)

2006 ANGLER OF THE YEAR - FINAL STANDINGS & GREAT CATCHES!

2006 AOY Final Standings!
Never in the history of Angler of the Year have we had as many catches in the last few weeks as this year.  14 fish were tallied in the last 6 weeks of the tourney - mostly by anglers vying for top honors and scrambling to get those last species that would take them over the top.  Congratulations to the 2006 Anglers of the Year:  Bob Frevert (Mens), Christine Cooley (Ladies) and Bruce S. McDavid (Juniors). We also congratulate Steve and Kathy Hofgren - second in their divisions - for spurring the competition to the next level!  Note the margin of cictory in the Ladies division... a mere 19 points!  A message to the winners form everyone who didn’t win:  “You just wait ‘til next year!!!”
